Bowl Season???

It is hard for me to believe that for the first time that I can remember, college football bowl season has so far held no interest for me. Looking back I have fond memories of the Gator, Peach, Sugar, Cotton, Rose and Rose Bowls. My family annually would go to the Gator Bowl and watch two teams that had somewhat respectable seasons play for pride and the love of the game. Today I am sure that there is a game being played, for there are only 83X10 to the nTh bowl games this year. But for the love of me I couldn't tell you who it is. Equally I am sure that there have already been that many bowl games already played this year for which I can name no match up. I am not going into reasons, politics, or solutions for the ridiculousness of the bowl situation that we have now. I do want to talk about just one game that was played last night. Arizona State and Boise State played in the whatever it was bowl. And that could have been the name, I just don't know. This game matched a senior laden Boise team that was 12-1 and ranked 7th in the nation against a talent laden ASU team that had a season record of 6-6. Boise had all of the intangibles in its favor, ASU none! And it showed. Boise wanting to send its QB out as the winningest QB in college history, true team spirit, and high regard for the school and coach played with class and style while a uninspirited ASU team came out and barely went through the motions of playing. But who could really blame them! They were playing for a coach who had been fired, they had fallen short of their expectations for the season,and its Christmas! With really no incentive after a disappointing year who could blame them for not being at their best. Most of them are young men who are not going to make a career of football so why should anyone expect any differ ant. Even the most highly regarded ASU player who is going to be a first round NFL pick played like a Division III player!

All of this brings me to my point. Somehow a motivated 12-1 team got matched against an I don't want to be here 6-6 team in the I don't know bowl on the Thursday night before Christmas for what reason???? I think we all know and it very saddening to me that its has gotten to this point.

Wasn't able to attend my 30th high school reunion this past weekend but due to the wonders of the internet and social networking I was able to see a number of pictures that friends posted. All of the folks there seemed to have a grand time and the funny thing about it was that most of them had not aged as much as I would have expected for a bunch on the verge of 50 years.

It brought back lots of fond memories most of them good and it also left many questions that I have in my mind unanswered. Mostly questions about what happened to this person and...... As I was browsing some of the pics I came upon one titled "Friends lost but not forgotten". This in a bad way answered some of the questions. They Grow Up Fast

At the beginning of the school year I was the tallest of the family and then bam, I am now third in line for that honor. It seems that time is going by faster now than it ever has before. I have always heard that it does the older you get, so I must be getting old!!! My theory on this is that our brain cells just can't retain enough or as much of what is going on around us so it just makes it seem that time in going faster. Could also be that we have so much more to occupy our time that we just don't see it slip away! Who knows. I do know that my two children are growing up to be beautiful and very special people. Just look at the pictures, Who could argue!

This was breakfast as made and served by our high school freshman daughter for a class project. She had to plan, shop, cook, set table, serve and clean up. Then put it all in report form. the breakfast was great! Quiche, cream cheese danish and baked apples. Very proud of her.

Today at my golf course a great group of men who have a small outing each year celebrated with this years outing the 90th birthday of Gus! Because the median age of this group is a bit high, their groups number has dwendled over the past few years. But this year they celebrated a birthday with golf, a cookout, and birthday cake!!!
A good time was had by all, even those of us who were just amazed at watching this 90 year old enjoy every moment! Happy Birthday and many more Gus. BTW Gus is in back on the right, to the left of the really tall guy!

Again this is Jack. It took me a little while to realize that after a session of play Jack had worn himself out and was snoozing happily on the couch. What I did not realize was that he had fallen asleep with one of his toys in his mouth dangling from the couch. It was not just a short period of time, but for the most part of an hour he slept there. He is a unique dog!

Working at the Cart Wash yea

When I got to work Sunday morning there was just one cart in the lake! Low and behold when I got to work this morning there were three. No this is not the way we wash carts at my golf course! Saturday night it seems that some pranksters decided to joy ride around by borrowing a few of our golf carts from our locked storage shed. They found that running over railroad ties and running into firmly mounted posts that the carts would cease to function in a fun way. So they would leave the unfunctioning one and get another. 12 of our carts were rendered useless and the heathens probably would have never been caught. After fixing our storage shed we thought all was well for the night! Wrong!!!! As I pulled into work this a.m. with just enough light to see, our one cart in the lake had multiplied into three! The heathens had struck again! Long story short, they were stupid kids 2 juveniles and 2 18 year old who are now facing 5 felony charges and 2 misdemeanor charges. Yes they were caught by 9 a.m. and are in bout load of trouble. After last nights romp over half of our fleet is down and we have 3 outings this week. All of the outing are fund raisers that now may have to be cancelled all due to some stupid little punks that thought it would be cool to destroy others property. Now we aren't really the losers its the people who were going to benefit from the outings. You never know how deeply and to what lenght your actions will affect people! Be careful people!

Jack the dog has evolved into a great dog. As mentioned before he is sometimes a mammas boy but he really likes doing dog things as well. Chasing balls, pull toys, and barking at nothing are some of his favorite pastimes as well as snuggling when tired. But the true test happened the other day when I was walking him around the block. One of our neighbors had their dog out and about. A little bigger and older dog who decided to bark and growl and give our little pup the business. But surprising to me, Jack bowed up and pulled hard at his leash, letting out a series of barks and growls aimed at the other dog letting him know that Jack was a force to be reckoned with in this here neighborhood!

We got a puppy! This is Jack. He is a Shih Szu/Poople mix and is a great dog.
I say that because he is a dog not just a cutesy cuddley thing, but that too!
I was a little worried at first because he seemed to have some standoffish tendencies but after a shaving and bath he developed into, get this , a dog! Yes he will probably be a mommas boy but I will teach him some guy things along the way!

Here is a picture of the boys cake for his 12th birthday. Its a guitar!!!! The boy really likes the guitar and his favorite guitarist of all time is Angus Young(ACDC). Constructed of cake frosting hershey bars and tic tics, it is truely awesome! We will be taking it to Wings with us tonight so I am sure we will get many looks.
Special thanks to LucyJades's Bakery and Cafe in Sommerville Al. for doing the cake. They did a great job. I also here that they did the Grooms cake as well. Can't wait to eat, uh I mean see that one too.

1. I am getting married in a week to the greatest woman on the earth!
2. Tonight is one of the kiddies celebrated birthday night, wings and paintball!!!
3. The weather in turning to fall, finally!
4. Time out as a form of dicipline dosen't seem to be working as of yet.Time spent in each time has gone from 11 minutes to 31 minutes. How far can in go!!!
5. Georgia plays LSU this weekend, I hope I get to watch some of it.
6. Still love listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN Radio when I can. He love college football as much, even more than I do.
7. Revived a freindship with an old buddy. It was too long!!!

My First Political Statement

O.k. folks this is the first time that I will and maybe the last time I will make a political statement. WE SHOULD NOT BOYCOTT THE ANY PART OF THE OLYMPICS!!!!

Many years ago I had a friend who was a highly ranked American sprinter. World class! His hard work, determination and God given talent allowed him to qualify for the 1980 Olympics which we did not attend. I know that he and other amateur athletes were heart broken that they were not given the chance to compete and complete a once in a life time dream. I know that the world has changed quite a in both politics and athletics since the 1980's, but to boycott the Olympics is just not the way to say "I'll show you."

Here is the view as I had to walk the length of the Y.M.C.A. parking lot to pay for the kiddies after school care. I wonder if it really is a matter of convience or just doing what the Jones do in having a minivan. I have many friends from upper middle class families that transport very nicely their families around in just regular cars. But it seems to me that from this picture that to be a proud morning mommy member at the Y you have to have a minivan as well! I wonder if they have a secret hand shake too!

Passing of a Friend

Got news today that a friend of mine passed away today! He died a horrible death that was self imposed some would say. He drank himself to death. Now the coroner will say that his some other part of his body failed and that was the cause of his death. But there are a few of us who knew and loved him that know the truth. For the past several years he had a lonely quality about him that no one could break through. As I was talking to another friend tonight, this thought of his loneliness was apparent to us both. He died a horrible death so that it might help to keep some of us alive!

There are so many beautiful things in this world. I know that this is a very open statement and could go in many different directions and you, all my readers, are wondering what the hell is he talking about. Yes I can hear the buzz. What I am referring to are all of the different views that I get from my fiance'. I don't want to get too graphic but, DAMN!!!!!!! This woman has the most feminine form that I have ever seen. Happy New Year to all. My new year resolution is to make a blog entry daily this year!!!!! As all of you, my loyal readers know, this ain't gonna happen. So what I have basically done is already done is taken the pressure off of myself in trying to keep a resolution through out the year. By tomorrow I am sure my resolution will be broken and I won't have to worry about it the rest of the year. I must admit though that I have some things in mind but they are just continuations of things that I try to do on a daily basis anyway. Today I go back to work!!!! No I have not been on holiday, no it has not been a vacation, and no it has not been one of those things that college professors take when they are trying to publish a book(sabbatical). I had a little surgury before christmas that sidelined me for a couple of weeks for recovery. The procedure was successful according to my doctor and he said that I could start work today on a limited basis. About the surgery, lets just say it was a pain in the ass!!

As of yesterday it is official! Colin Cowherd is just a regular guy when it comes to picking football games. Yesterday his big pick of the year, Alabama upsetting a highly favored LSU team, did not come true. It almost happened! Any one of the events of that game could have gone another way or not have happened at all and the outcome would have been different. And whether it be coincidence or not he did pick an exciting game to be captivated by. But as it stands now Colin is an average 2-2 in his preseason picks of the year. I will give credit where credit is due though, I love listening to Colin and his insight. He is able to due the research and give me insight into the game that I would not think of nor have the time to research. Also I must ad that he still has 2 more pick of games that have not been played yet! More or those games later. Still going 50-50 is not so bad when picking blindly at the beginning of the year. The "BIG" Pick

O.K. folks this is the week of the big pick according to Colin Cowherd of ESPN Radio. As you may know, before the season started he picked 6 games that he said would be winners. Mind you he did this before the season even started. So far he has a 2-1 record. Last year he did the same thing and went 5-1 on his picks. So it now stands to reason that he should be perfect the rest of the year. With that being said it is also appropriate to note that this weekend is his big play of the year! "Play" in gamblers terms being the game to bet on. Not only bet on it but make it a big play! That means bet more than you would usually bet on a game if you are compelled to do things like that. LSU is at present a 7 1/2 point favorite in the game againt the Crimson Tide of Alabama. But if Colin is right on this I would suggest betting the money line, taking Alabama, which will probably be around +200. That means that is you bet $100 an Alabama you can win $200. Of course, and for those who don't know, betting the money line means that no point spreads are involved! The Tide would have to win outright, straight up...... SO good luck to all those who ventured into doing things like wagering on football or just picking games in the office pool. Should be fun to watch.

In august Colin Cowherd of ESPN gave us 6 games to watch for this year. So far only one has been played and he was right. Purdue crushed the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame which isn't that great a feat this year to date, but his prediction was correct. So this weekend we have 2 more of the original 6 being played so lets follow along. The picks of the day are Texas A&M to cover no matter the spread, and Kentucky to beat Florida outright. As a reminder Colins 6 picks went 5-1 last year. And remember that this is not an endorsement for gambling, only something fun to follow. But do remember if you do like to wager on games, do it responsibly.

At The Beach

Sports has taken a back seat to the beach and vacation with My Honey and my family. Although in the sports world there are major, major upheavals at every turn, thrills beyond belief in all the fall sports, and the Yankees losing in another first round series, there are more important things in life.

Taking time to smell the ocean, feel the sea breezes, and getting away from the routine are a necessary part of life today. Now, although, this sounds very dramatic it's just what has happened to slip out of my mouth this morning as I watch the charter boats sail out into the Gulf away from the hustle and bustle of life.

I haven't really said anything about this before, but yes I am a Georgia Bulldog fan. Having grown up in south Georgia and been witness to some of the greatest Georgia football moments that the bulldogs have been part of, I have always been proud to be a Georgia Fan.
This past weekend I was privileged and honored to take my family to Tuscaloosa for the game between the Dawgs and the Crimson Tide. I was quite impressed with the campus and the stadium. Its not Sanford Stadium in Athens but it is quite impressive. Yes there is some bias here!!!!!
It was the kids and my sweeties first trip to a BIG TIME SEC game, and although they were a little nervous and apprehensive, they were troopers and seemed to have enjoyed themselves.
And yes folks this is a house divided!!!!!! They are all Bama fans. Although the man child tried to root for Georgia, I that deep down he was pulling for Bama. And as it were the game came down to an heroic overtime play that thrilled the small yet vocal contingent of Georgia fans and left the Bama fans still seeking a miracle from the Bear.
I must say that my first trip to the Capstone was quite memorable and I have nothing but high praise for the University and the experience. I do hope to make it back there for another fall gridiron contest.

1. Hmmmm. IF you haven't noticed, LSU may have a pretty good team!!! And most of the Tigers fans aren't real concerned that J. Russell isn't their Qb this year.

If you add it up thats 285 yds/game for the dynamic duo from Arkansas.
Yes I know that Alabama beat them this weekend, and if you are a hog fan you are questioning some of the late calls, but all the calls equal out. And really if truth be known after the fisrt quarter the hogs played you really shouldn't have been in the game. But I digress. This is supposed to be about one hell of a running back tandom. Lets just say that the stats speak for themselves.

3. Kentucky beats #9 ranked Louisville. In doing so they beat a top ranked team for the first time since............and the Commadores have a winning record too!

This now leads to some interesting thoughts.
Remember that Colin"The Herd" Cowherd(ESPN Radio) picked Kentucky to beat Flordia straight up when they come to Lexington this year and he also picked Alabama to beat LSU straight up when they come to T-town this year.

And I still don't care anything about South Carolina!!!!

One of the things that I wanted to watch was how the Arkansas running backs would fair this year. They are off to a good start as you can see. Yes McFadden is sensational. He would be a star on any team with out a doubt. But what about Felix Jones? There is no question in my mind that he could start and be a star at most any school. This may be as good a combination there has been since the Auburn duo of Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams. Some people may point out that its early in the season and we will have to see if they can prove themselves. If you doubt it much just look at last season and hold on to your sock for this season. I believe they are going to keep producing the number that they did last night even if the Hogs can't produce the number of wins and the success that they had last year.

The only team to lose this week was Tennessee to a good and set on revenge California team. Tennessee did show some heart in trying to stay in the game and no doubt will have a good year. But the impressive thing is not what the top teams did but what the East as a whole did. Again it is very early in the year and "there is a lot of football left", but the impressive wins by Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Kentucky show that this is going to be a tough year for every one in the east.

So far my preseason watches are holding their own with most every thing going on in the NCAA. Lets hop that they continue to hold their form.

Last night the 2007 NCAA football season got off to a blazing start and ended with a yawn and a whimper. I was really looking forward to seeing how Mississippi St. and Coach Croom would fair against the LSU Tigers last night. I had hoped that it would be somewhat of a game but my hopes were never realized.
Whether it be the number of athletes that LSU possesses or the lack of athletes on MSU's team, the game was never in question. I was hoping to get a read on how good the LSU Qbs would stack up vs. the departed J. Russell but the bulldog defence just wasn't a match for anything that LSU had. Although they have heart, States "D" just didn't have the size or the speed to match up or put up any resistance to the tigers.
I am sorry to see that a class man like Croom doesn't have the talent to make MSU better than they are or than they, their fans deserve.
I guess I will have to wait till next week to get a read on the LSU qb's when they get a taste of a much more talented and highly ranked Virginia Tech squad. SEC vs. ACC powers!

Almost Time

Well it is almost time for the first kickoff for the 2007 SEC football season.
I refer to the first kickoff as being the start of the college seasons first full weekend. Labor Day weekend is it!!! Some things that I am looking forward to seeing this year go like this:

1. What kind of year will Darrin McFadden have this year. When he came out of highschool not to many people had heard of him. Only the hard core of us really knew that when he was in high school and would get the ball the fans would cheer not for him, but for the offencive line not to hold! Ya see, odds were that he was going to score and the only thing that could prevent that was a holding penalty! Can Arkansas and all of the off field problems along with the fact McFadden will have to share the ball with Felix Jones be able to have the Heisman at Fayetteville next year? We shall see.

2. Just how good are all of the LSU quarterbacks. All of them claimed to be better than Jamarcus Russell! Now I must say that football is a team sport and if we look back at last yeas NFL draft you will see that many of Russells team mates from LSU are now now playing with the big boys. Is it fair to compare this LSU team with last years, ABSOLUTELY! Quarterbacks are supposed to be leaders! This team is loaded with talent! Sould be an interesting watch.

3. The SEC East
Here we go. Yea I could talk about Flordia and their chance to repeat( not gonna happen), Tennessee and if they can get most of their players out of jail for the big games(not gonna happen), or Gerogia, for which I am a big fan, but these are not the things that are going to standout this year. What about Kentucky and Vanderbilt!?!?!
Many are saying that this is the year that both programs break from the lower ranks and jump up into a possible chance to play for the SEC title! No, Wait, No, what did you say? Yes there is a surprising amount of talant that has slid under the radar at these schools. They are much stronger they have been in previous years and coming off some of the big victories that both programs had last year some added confidence surrounding fall practice. Will this be enough for either school to make a break through? We shall see.

Well as most of you can see I didn't follow through on the comedy thing and cats are really not my favorites either! What I like most about this time of year is the anticipation of the upcoming football season. I love football. Not just watching it because I really don't have that much time to watch, but everything else about it. O.K. that is not entirely true either. What I like most is the wagering and every thing that goes with it. I have a fairly good track record in the wagering I have done, though not documented and I am not a big time gambler. I have a couple of different pools that I enter and I do have an offshore account that I rarely use.

I have a long commute to work and I get to listen to all of the experts at ESPN Radio tell me what is going to happen with the season and that if I listen to them I will make money!!!! HA!!! If that were the case all of them would be professional gamblers instead of radio jockeys. Yea I say that in jest, I mean really who would rather set their own schedule and have all of the freedom in the world to come and do as they please!! I know I make sound glamorous and that the gambler has a life of leisure to this I know it is not true. To be good at it you have to study and research all aspects of the game and even then it is not a sure thing. To the professional gambler it is a job just like being a radio jockey!
So I want to thank all of the radio personalities that entertain me on a daily basis and know that I am counting on you to make me lots of money this year.

The first thing that I want to post is Colin Cowherd list of sure things to wager on this year. He has done quite well with these picks over the last few years so lets just see how he does this year. If all goes well with Colin's pick this year I should be able to get that condo on the French Riviera that I have been dreaming about.

A New Cat InTown

It was 45 years today that my parents picked me up from the nuns at a Catholic charities adoption center. I was the new cat in town! Back then the adoption process was not a simple one and it was very hard for anyone to adopt a child. Unlike today if you are a celebrity or if you have a lot of money you can just go out and get one, the process then was long and arduous. At times I was told that they had almost given up hope for getting a child but on this Memorial day, 45 years ago a call was made and received. My parents dropped everything and made the long trek to get me. For years they would tell me that the reason that the flags were flying on May 30th was that it was my special day, the day they got me, and that everyone was celebrating. I didn't know, I was just too young to know, that it was Memorial and that we were celebrating and remembering all the things that the veterans of our great county had done for our freedoms. But what I didn't realize for years was that they were celebrating the privilege that had been bestowed upon them of raising and loving a child. Me of all people! Not only was I the new cat on the block but I was the Special cat.

It is now official! This is a humorous blog!
With the overflow of comments that I received after the list 8 things post, I decided that this is the way that you, my fan, wants me to go. It was a hard decision noting all of the rage that my political post stirred. Even more chilling was the response to my cooking post. I thought after the incident which it incited that I might go that direction. But based on the shear numbers, somewhat like American Idol, I have to go the direction that you, my fan, wants me to take. And like that idol show it may not be the best route to take because my areas of expertise are not particularly humor and the like, but you, my fan, have overwhelming swayed me to the humor route.

So get ready to laugh your ass off and sometimes, yes, to think a little, my humor can be sometimes a little off the wall.

It seems that I have been tagged by my honey and now have to enter some facts about myself to all of you, my loyal readers. Here is the problem, I have to tag some others and continue this on. Hmmmm..sounds like a chain letter to me! I will probably get 7 yrs of bad luck if I don't pass it on. But wait, if I don't know how to pass it on, will the blog Gods still bestow this punishment upon me? I don't think so.
I do have an idea though. Todays blog in supposed to be about entertainment right!
So what could be more entertaining than you guys learning about mememe!

So here goes:

1. I don't know squat about blogging! I know this is a big surprise to most of you because of the professionalism demonstrated by my entries and my blog itself.

2. I know I am going to hit the lottery one day. I haven't yet but I am sure if I ever buy a ticket that my odds will improve.

3. I love to gamble and I am good at it. Yea I know that sounds pretty arrogant, and it is. But the results are there. If anyone tells you that its all luck, send em my way I've got a bet to make with them.

4. I went to Disney World 33 times before I was 15yrs. old. Thats right, 33 times.
Now I do have some splaining to do. My father developed some land in central Florida way before the really big Orlando bloom(hahaha). I know it should be boom but this is entertainment!!!!! He used to take me with him on business. He would drop me off at the Comtempory Hotel in the morning, go do business, at pick me up later that night. It was a blast. I new all of the best times to go to the popular rides, where to eat cheap, when free stuff was being given away.....a kids paradise I tell you.

5. I have seen the chicken pox scare on my girlfriends butt, and mind you it is SEXY!!!!!!

6. When(if) I grow up I have no idea what I want to do for a living.

7. I have been in two major auto wrecks and been told by Drs. that I should be dead on at least 3 other occasions. On top of that I have no serious health problems to show from it. I say WOW to that.

8. Went to a bar the other night and had the best white iced mocca coffee ever.

Now how the hell do I tag someone else? Doesn't matter, I wouldn't know who to tag if I could!

If I say so myself, and I will probably be the only one who reads this, "Thats some damn fine entertainment there."

Caesar Salad-Not What You think

At dinner the other night my family had a discussion about caesar salad and I told them a little about the history of the the salad as I know it. In todays hurry up and wait life we sometimes miss out on the elegance and romance of times past and how things were actually done. This article that I found will give you a little of the history and the makins of what goes into the "original" caesar salad.

And folks, if you have never had it or had it done for you it is well worth the effort to try the salad in the old way instead of the bottled hurry up version.

Caesar Salad
One of my favorite salads and one that I usually request when dining out is Caesar Salad.

History of the Caesar Salad

This popular dish was originally created in 1924 by Italian chef Caesar Cardini at his restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico and was prepared and served right at the table. If you have never experienced "the show" that goes with tableside presentation, you don't know what you missed. What an opportunity for a waiter to show off his stuff, mixing and whisking to the delight of the patrons.

For those of you who are not fans of anchovies, you may be interested in knowing the original recipe for this salad did not include them. So when the waiter asks if you want anchovies on your Caesar Salad, tell him, " No, I prefer Chef Cardini's original recipe."

What About Those Raw Eggs?

Although some recipes use a raw egg, a coddled egg will give the dressing a smoother, creamier texture. How does the Reluctant Gourmet coddle an egg? Easy, bring a small pot of water to fast boil and gently place the egg into it and cook for 45 seconds.

You can buy a variety of bottled Caesar Salad dressings in your grocery store even one that has an photo of Chef Cardini on it, but none are as good as making it yourself.

The recipe below is not Cardini's original recipe but one that was given to me by a chef in New York City. You can also buy a variety of commercial croutons, but I highly recommend making your own. It's easy and the taste is far better than any crouton you can purchase. You can store the croutons in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one day.

INGREDIENTSFor the Croutons:

2 large garlic cloves
Pinch of salt
3 tablespoons virgin olive oil
2 cups French baguette slices cut up into 1/2 inch cubes (white bread works too)

For the Salad:

1 large egg
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 medium garlic clove, crushed
1 pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons anchovy paste or 4 flat anchovies
1 teaspoon capers
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/3 cup virgin olive oil
2 medium heads of romaine lettuce -- outer leaves removed
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese -- grated

PREP WORK Prepping the croutons - Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Crush the garlic cloves with the side of a chef's knife (be very careful) or with a garlic press. Slice up the baguette and cut them into 1/2 inch cubes.

Prepping the salad - Again crush the garlic. If you are using flat anchovies out of a can, mince one or two to make 1 1/2 teaspoons worth. Grate the Parmesan cheese. It's always better to grate it yourself if you have the opportunity.

HOW TO MAKE AT HOMECroutons - Combine garlic, oil, salt, and bread cubes in a bowl. Mix until cubes are coated evenly. Spread the coated cubes onto a baking sheet and bake until the croutons are golden. This should take about 10 minutes.

To make the salad - Bring a pot of boiling water to boil, add egg and cook for just 45 seconds....NO MORE. This is coddling the egg. Remove from heat and let it cool off.

Meanwhile, mix the Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, garlic, salt & pepper, anchovy, mustard and capers in a bowl. Crack egg and add to these ingredients. Whisk until smooth.

Now for the tricky part. Slowly add the oil in a steady stream while constantly whisking again until smooth. Reason: if you add the oil too quickly, the dressing will be separate and not emulsify.

To serve:

Tear the romaine lettuce into 1-2 inch pieces and add them to a large bowl (wooden if you have one). Add half the dressing, toss, add remaining dressing, Parmesan cheese, and croutons and toss again. Serve on chilled plates.

I must apologise to my fan base for not posting about cooking yesterday.
Here's the thing: Life in the past few months has taken a turn....for the best.
I sometimes hear a lot of complaints and at times I will complain too about not having enough time to do all the things that I would have liked or wanted to do.
Yesterday that was the case! I didn't get to post about cooking because I had many more important things to do and I loved every minute of it. No they were not all fun and joy but I would not trade my day for anything. But I have some time today so COOKING will be next!!!! And then who knows!!!!

This has been the first year that I have watched American Idol and I must say that I have rather enjoyed it!! Its purpose has been two fold in that I have gotten some good entertianment value out of it and it started out as a good excuse to come over and see my honey when we first started getting serious about each other. One thing that has surprised me is that how the thoughts and perception of who might win has changed through out the season of the show. At first Sundown(dance,disco..) whoever he was was the undoubted winner in my book and others around me but that of cousre quickly changed after they went to Hollywood,Beverly Hills, where ever they are!!!
Now that the competition is coming to and end you can actually get some action, thats gambling lingo from what i have been told, on who is going home tonight.

Yes thats right today is my birthday!!!! Yeaaaa!
My birth certificate says that I am 45 yrs. old. I feel like I am 25 mentally and the age varies on the physical side. I am young at heart I know that for a fact.

My love surprised me with a gift certificate for a 1 hr massage that I have so very much wanted to get I just never considered going out and actually getting one. Ha here is the opportunity. I really am looking forward to it.

We went out to eat dinner with my family at a local italian resturant that is one of my favorites. I had wild boar and scallops! On off the wall surf and turf if there ever was one.

Our kids got me very humerous cards and surprised me with some of the written words that they put on the cards. It would take too long to explain, but as soon as I learn a little more about this blogging thing I will give some details. Might even try it today if I have the time.
